Harness Fit Guide: Leather, Explorer, or Joque?

A harness fits right when the base sits flat against your body, the straps hold snug without pinching, and nothing drifts mid-use. All three of ours — the Signature Leather ($99.99), the Explorer ($39.99), and the Joque by SpareParts ($169.99) — take any standard O-ring dildo, ours included. Pick by body, budget, and how you play.

We've been fitting harnesses on queer and trans bodies since 2012, and here's the thing nobody tells you in a product photo: fit is the whole experience. A great dildo in a drifting harness is a bad night. So let's do fit first, then compare the three honestly — including where each one falls short.

How should a harness actually fit?

Three checks, in order:

The base sits flat. The plate holding the O-ring should press evenly against your body — pubic mound, over a packer, wherever you wear it. If it tilts or gaps, thrust force goes into the straps instead of your body, and control goes with it.

Snug, not strangling. Tighten until the harness moves with your hips like it's part of you. You should be able to slide a finger under the straps. If your skin is creased white when it comes off, back off a notch.

No drift. The real test happens in motion. A fitted harness stays centered through a full session. If you're re-centering the base every few minutes, the fit is wrong — usually too loose, sometimes the wrong style for your body shape.

Everything else — material, color, price — comes after those three.

What size harness do you need?

Measure your waist where you'll actually wear the harness, not where your pants sit. Then:

• Signature Leather and Explorer: adjustable strap systems that cover most bodies. Cinch to fit.
• Joque by SpareParts: two sizes. Size A fits waists 20–50". Size B fits waists 35–65". Note the overlap — if you land between 35 and 50", either works; sizing within your range matters more than splitting hairs at the boundary.

If you're between adjustments on any harness, snugger is usually the right call. Straps loosen with enthusiasm; they don't tighten themselves.

Leather, Explorer, or Joque — what's the honest difference?

Signature Leather Harness — $99.99. Handcrafted genuine leather with black hardware, produced in small batches, in Black, Purple, or Turquoise. This is the one that molds to you over time — leather breaks in, remembers your shape, and looks better at year five than day one. Honest downside: it's leather. It wants wipe-downs, not submersion, and it costs twice the Explorer.

Explorer Harness — $39.99. Neoprene, beginner-friendly, and the only one of the three with a built-in pleasure pocket — a slot behind the base for a bullet vibe. (The OG Bullet, $29.99, ten speeds, rechargeable, waterproof, was practically made for that pocket.) Honest downside: neoprene is neoprene. It's the right first harness and a great travel harness; it's not an heirloom.

Joque by SpareParts — $169.99. The engineering pick, and the size-range champion: between its two sizes it covers waists from 20" to 65", the widest span in our lineup by far. Do all dildos fit all three harnesses?

Every dildo we make fits any standard O-ring harness with a 1.5–2" opening — which includes all three above. No compatibility chart, no proprietary lock-in. Our silicone dildos are non-porous and sanitizable, so they're shareable between partners and harnesses alike with a wash (warm water, mild soap, air dry) or a condom between users. Water-based lube only on silicone — silicone lube degrades silicone toys.

Which one should you pick?

• First harness, or curious on a budget: Explorer. Beginner-friendly, $39.99, and the pleasure pocket means the wearer isn't an afterthought.
• You want the one you'll still own in a decade: Signature Leather. Handcrafted, small batches, breaks in like a good boot.
• Fit outside typical ranges, or you want maximum adjustability: Joque. Two sizes spanning 20–65" waists.

What size harness do I need? Measure your waist where the harness will actually sit. Leather and Explorer adjust to most bodies; the Joque comes in Size A (20–50" waist) and Size B (35–65").
