FTM Packing Guide: How to Pack for the First Time

What is packing?

Packing means wearing a soft silicone prosthetic in your underwear to create the shape, weight, and bulge of a penis. For many trans masc and non-binary folks, packing is a significant part of feeling at home in their body — whether they’re out at work, at the gym, at the beach, or anywhere else.

The effect is physical, but the impact is often emotional. Many people describe the first time they packed as a moment of genuine gender euphoria: finally looking in the mirror and seeing a body that felt like theirs.

What do I need to get started?

You need two things: a packer and something to hold it in place.

Choosing a packer: Packers come in different sizes and skin tones. NYTC makes several options:

  • Archer — A soft, realistic silicone packer available in 4 inch ($39.99) and 5 inch ($49.99). Available in Caramel, Hazelnut, and Chocolate.
  • Pierre — An uncircumcised packer, hand-painted for a realistic multi-tonal finish. $49.99.
  • Jack — A 2-in-1 packer and stroker. Pack during the day, use as a stroker when you’re ready. $59.99.

Holding it in place: You can use a packing pouch, packing underwear, or a jockstrap with a pouch. NYTC’s Packer Pouch with magnetic closure makes it easy to take on and off without removing your underwear.

How do I position it?

Tuck the packer into your underwear or pouch with the shaft pointing slightly to one side or down. The goal is a natural-looking shape through clothing, not necessarily a specific position. Play with what feels natural and comfortable for your body.

How long can I wear it?

Most people can wear a packer comfortably all day. Start with a few hours to see how it feels for your body and choose the right position. Soft platinum silicone is body-safe and non-porous, so it’s safe for extended wear.

Clean it regularly

Clean your packer with warm water and mild soap after use. Air dry completely before storing. Silicone can be boiled for full sterilization.
